I recently discovered this product and decided to give it a try. there are no reviews or ratings from Japan yet, so this might be the first review from Japan. It is indeed advertised as capable of 4K recording, but the actual resolution is up to 2880x2160 at 24fps, with a bitrate of 24,666kbps, recording at 3MB/s per second. This translates to 180MB per minute and approximately 6 minutes per 1GB recorded. Full HD recording, on the other hand, required about double the storage. This applies to dash cameras in general: without a high-quality, durable MLC SD card for dash cameras, you can expect them to break within a few months. The image quality, despite the high resolution, feels like the best level so far. I've previously used models like the DrivePro 230 and 70mai 1s, but the ROVE R2-4K's quality is overwhelming. It can even read license plates in poorly lit areas. Equipped with GPS and speedometers, its functionality is unmatched. The device's menu is also in Japanese, and it includes voice guidance. You can toggle between voice, machine sounds, and complete silence—the ability to go fully silent is a small but pleasant feature. Currently, there's a 3000 yen discount coupon available. As this is just arriving on the Japanese market, it's likely being sold at discounted prices for now. In the US, it sells for around $120, so the value is astounding for now. The only drawback is, as expected, the use of miniUSB instead of Type-C. I noticed it in the photos, but it still seems premature to use miniUSB in 2023. At least, a microUSB would have been a compromise... Nevertheless, considering its superior image quality and value for money, this issue is tolerable. I believe this selling price is temporary, but for a device that offers near 4K quality, great functionality, and is priced reasonably, it's an outstanding choice.
